I’m not generally a huge fan of watching awards shows because there are just so many and I just don’t think they’re very good anymore, however one that I do enjoy watching is the Oscars. There’s just something so glamorous and exciting about it. Being a girly girl I of course love watching the red carpet and seeing what everyone’s wearing, who they’re with and what their hair & makeup looks like. When I watch I can’t help but think what it would be like to be there walking the red carpet amidst all the celebs and most importantly which designer would I wear?? Let’s see….I would love to wear anything from Valentino, Oscar de la Renta, Versaci, Chanel…just to name a few. Ok let’s be real I would pretty much wear anything if I got the chance to walk the red carpet.
Leading up to the Oscars I try and watch as many of the nominated movies as I can so I’m a little more in the know and plus who doesn’t love watching a good movie. So far I’ve watched Blue Jasmine which I really liked. Cate Blanchett does an amazing job in the movie plus it’s filmed in San Francisco which makes it fun to watch. I think she has a very good shot at winning the Oscar but in all fairness I haven’t seen the other movies the other actresses have been nominated for so we’ll see. Andrew Dice Clay is also in the movie which Sam loved and is probably one of the main reasons he actually watched the movie with me. He surprised me and actually does a pretty decent job in the movie. I also watched The Wolf of Wall Street which was another good and very entertaining movie (3 hours long!). It’s a true story which is one of my most favorite types of movies to watch. Not sure If I think it’s Oscar good but good movie none the less and Leonardo DiCaprio is in it so enough said. The most recent one I watched was Dallas Buyers Club which was a great movie and again it’s a true story which you know I love. Matthew McConaughey does an exceptional job and I’m going to predict that he wins the Oscar. Again, I haven’t seen all the other movies that the other actors are nominated for but I feel that strongly. There are still several movies I would really like to see like Her, Philomena, August Osage County and American Hustle. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to before Sunday because all of them come out on DVD/on Demand after Sunday (Ha! as if I really have the time anyway).
To get more in the spirit of things on Sunday I think I’m going to have a little Oscar party and make some yummy appetizers. When I searched for some good and easy ones (I hope) these really stood out to me. These of course will be paired with some wine.
DEVILS ON HORSEBACK: BACON WRAPPED DATES FILLED WITH GOAT CHEESE (the name alone caught my attention)
The other day I shared a really cool story on Facebook via Mommy Shorts about a mom who is super talented and creates these amazing dresses out of paper for her 4 year old daughter. Here are just some of the cool dresses that in my opinion are definitely Red Carpet worthy.

If you’re planning on watching the Oscars like me; enjoy! Who do you think will win?
